Trooper had a great show year, did a total of 13 AKC shows he got 9 1st places, 2 2nd places, 2 3rd places and 1 Reserve. Trooper also shows in UKC and he is 1 competition win and 50 points away from his UKC Championship we hope to finish that in early 2012.

This past weekend we showed Gabby at a UKC show, on Saturday in the morning show she picked up 25 points and a Group 2 win in the afternoon she picked up another 25 points and a Group 1 win. She also got 2 out of the 3 competition requirements done.

Today we picked up 10 points in the morning show and 25 points in the afternoon show. She now needs 15 points to finish and still has 1 more competition requirement to get before she can be a UKC Champion.

It's been a busy two months here, back in August I found out I had breast cancer so I spent most of August in and out of doctors offices. Back on September 22nd I went in and had a lumpectomy and I'm happy to report they got all the cancer, still have to have radiation treatment for 5-1/2 weeks that starts next week. But now I busy trying to get ready to leave tomorrow for Boise Idaho and four days of showing. I will be showing Gabby in breed and I can't wait, I'm just so happy I can show my dog. I'm taking the camera with me so I will get photos.

Twin Creeks Gone With Z Wind "Ashley"

Decided to share pictures of our girl "Ashley" Twin Creeks Gone With Z Wind she is a daddy's girl and loves my husband, Ashley will turn 6 years old in August. These photos were taken in October 2007 while we were at the Boise shows.

Ashley is retired from the show ring, she developed a bunny hop in the rear. When she was a puppy she jumped down from the back of our couch over a railing and landed by the front door it was about a 6 foot drop, we took her in to the vets nothing was broken but she decided that when she runs she has to do a bunny hop as she was recovering and didn't want to put any weight on her rear. She has been x-rayed many times but as she has gotten older the hop is more visible. So now she just is my husband companion when I'm at work she has to supervise whatever he does at home and he loves it.

Final Day at the Idaho Shows

We just arrived back from Idaho about 1 hour ago had a fabulous time showing my boy Cody, today we started our quest for his RAE title today we showed in Excellent B and placed 2nd with a score of 93 then on to Advanced B where he placed 1st with a score of 97 this was his 6th straight day of competing and I'm very proud of my boy.

After we got through showing we had a bit of early lunch then found Shannalee of Akadia Shelties Cody's breeder and said our goodbyes, while we were up there this past week Shannalee measured our girl and she is 13-1/2" and right in the middle of the safe zone and she lost both of her top caines which I'm so happy about as the new ones were starting to come in. We hope to show Gabby at the Boise shows in the 9 - 12 month old puppy class may be for a couple of days and show Cody the other two days either for his CDX or working on the RAE haven't decided yet. Our next shows will be in September for Cody hopefully going for his CDX title.

Today the dog gods were with us again, and we had great weather, Cody had a great time in the ring we finished our Rally Excellent Title with a 98 and 1st place finish. Weather I hear is to be horrible tomorrow most likely will not show and head home, hubby wanted to leave this afternoon but I do all the driving and I'm tired. Hopefully we will be able to show, hate to waste entry fees.

Idaho Shows Day 5 4th place finish

Well the dog show gods are with us again, no rain, it didn't start to rain until around 3:00 pm shelties were all done showing and we were done. Cody qualifed again in Rally Excellent with a score of 90 (I did a 10 point handler error, bad handler) and 4th place finish. With luck we should finish the Rally Excellent title tomorrow, but the weatherman is forcasting rain all weekend.

Today we started the quest for Cody's Rally Excellent title and I'm happy to say he got his first leg towards that title with a score of 98 and a 2nd place finish. My boy is working so well even in crappy weather but at least it did decided not to rain when he was in the ring.

We had another wonderful day of showing Cody finished his CD title (Companion Dog) with 3 first place finishes and scores of 189, 192-1/2 and 195-1/2 I'm so proud of my boy. We left Filer around 2:45 and did the 2 hour drive to Blackfoot Idaho after checking in at the hotel we headed to the show site than the rain came and it rained and rained. Hopefully it will not be raining tomorrow morning when we show in Rally Obedience, Cody will now be going for his Rally Excellent title.

We had a beautiful day today in Twin Falls, got to the show site around 9:30 am and just chilled out Cody ended up showing around 1:00 pm after the judge did a 45 minute lunch break. I am very pleased to say that Cody got another 1st place finish.

We arrived into Twin Falls about 2:00 pm checked into our hotel the Shilo Inns and Suite, very nice hotel then headed over to the show site in Filer, Idaho which is about 7 miles from Twin Falls. We meet up with some friends who have westies, we set up are area for the dogs then left and headed to dinner.

We are all packed and ready to head out to Idaho, this is Gabby's first road trip with overnight hotel stays should be interesting. We have packed lots of toys to keep her entertained.

We have so much rain today in Northern Utah that I talked with my trainer and pulled Cody out of the show. I want Cody's experience in Obedience to be positive and I think showing in the rain is not good as he is so new to showing Obedience, plus I'm not a duck and I didn't want to get soaked. We are also about to get a flooded basement the bottom back steps out of our house is full of water so we have to pump that out.

Tomorrow is our road trip to Idaho we have two days of Obedience in Filer, Idaho then on to Blackfoot for Rally Obedience. The rings for Obedience are covered in Filer showing in the area that they show cattle at the fair in, this will be much better for Cody.

So I will spend the rest of the day packing as I have not started yet, and relaxing. Tomorrow we have a 3 hour drive north to Twin Falls, Idaho where we will be staying.

Well today we started our quest for Cody's CD (Companion Dog) title in Obedience, the weather was warm and beautiful, could not of been a more beautiful day to show a dog. I'm very pleased to announce that Cody has his first qualifying score in Novice B with a 189 and to boot a 1st place finish. Now we have qualify two more times to get his title.

The Fence!!!!

About 3 years ago we decided we need to put up a small fence than went clear across our backyard we brought the supplies but never started working on the fence. This year when we got Gabby we decided we better get the fence up as Cody and Gabby would always go back there where the lawn mowers are and stuff we do not need them in.

Well all the entries have been sent in or entered online for Cody, we will be busy showing next month trying to get Cody's Obedience CD title his Rally Excellent title and hopefully his first leg of his RAE.

Here is our schedule:

June 6th and 7th Novice B (Great Salt Lake Dog Training Club, Farmington, Utah)

June 8th Travel day we will be off to Twin Falls, Idaho about a 3 hour drive

June 9th & 10th Novice B (Snake River Canyon Kennel Club show, Filer, Idaho)

June 10th After the show we pack-up and drive about 2 hours across the state of Idaho to Blackfoot, Idaho

June 11th - June 13th Rally Excellent B (Blackfoot Cluster shows, Blackfoot, Idaho)

June 14th Going for our first RAE leg hopefully, (Blackfoot Cluster shows, Blackfoot, Idaho)

I know I'm crazy for such a crazy schedule of showing, but we don't have alot of shows here in Utah so I'm making the most of my vacation time. Also Gabby will be in two puppy matches one in Filer the other in Blackfoot.

It was a beautiful day so I decided to take a couple of shots of Cody, plus I took one of Gabby and that's all I got batteries died on the camera, then it said memory card full which there was only 3 photos on it. So I had to switch to my Cannon Powershot camera.

Gabby's training to hopefully be a show dog started last night at Kyle Henefer's training facility in Hooper, Utah. In Gabby's class were a Great Dane, Cocker Spaniel, 13 wk old Mastiff and two little dogs not sure what breed. As soon as we entered the building and I put Gabby down to start moving her, she stood and basically said a can't move my feet they are glued to the floor.

These two picture show me trying to get her to move even with good treats she said no.

These two pictures are Gabby on the table and she did really well on the table as you can see her tail is tucked between her legs, but by the end of the class she was wagging her tail on the table.

I did get Gabby moving and by the end of the class she was moving beautifully but hubby didn't get a photo of that. One of her last down and back she figured out I can do this and moved out and impressed Kyle everyone in the class said she was faking it earlier. I was so proud of her and this socialization was wonderful for her. We had so much fun it was a blast can't wait and until our next class. We are keep our fingers crossed that she grows up beautiful and stays in size cause we sure had fun last night.

Gabby's starts her journey into becoming hopefully a show dog tonight. I got Gabby enrolled in a 5 week handling class taught by Kyle Henefer a Professional Handler that lives about 10 minutes from us. We are excited to start the class as I have never trained a show dog for the breed ring and I don't want to teach her the wrong way and cause bad habits.

My hubby is going with me tonight and he is going to have my camera so hopefully we will get some shots of Gabby in class.

Scary Saturday at our house!!!!

Saturday morning I got up feed and let out all the dogs, the backdoor was open so they could come in and out as they pleased and it was a beautiful morning and the gate to our yard was closed. Well I decided to take a shower and head out to do some shopping. Gabby and Cody were in the house with me so I put Gabby away in her crate with some more food and put Cody away behind the gate, and headed out to get Ashley and Tyson. I called for them the only dog that came was Ashley, Tyson was gone someone had opened up our gate.

Got my husband up and we hunted the neighborhood talked to people to see if they had seen a sheltie or a collie looking dog and no one had. My heart sank as we were 1-1/2hours in to the search and there was no sign of him. I talked to his breeder Marie Miles of Hill View Shelties and let her know what was going on.

I decided to go down and get some more paper so I could make up flyer's and while I was gone my hubby called me on the cell phone and said he was home. One of the people we had stopped and talked too saw him and got him and brought him home to us. My hubby said that he went out to the guys car and Tyson was just lying in the back seat.

I'm so happy to have him home, he was gone for over 4 hours. Saturday night we headed up to the local hardware store and brought a padlock so we can lock the gate. If I head lost all 4 of the dogs I would of been devastated.

It was such a beautiful morning I decided to go outside and do some training with "Cody" Akadia Wildfire, RA as we are getting ready for shows in June. But I also decided it was a good time to start leash training Gabby. We brought her a rolled leather collar yesterday and I had a thin long line which I use in Obedience training and put that on her. We started slow and with the help of sliced ham she started moving on the leash. Then I decided to take some photos of her and it was very hard to do but here are some shots of her.

Akadia Something To Talk About "Gabby"

We are so excited that we get to head to Rigby, Idaho tomorrow to Shannalee of Akadia Shelties and pick up our new puppy. Her registered name will be Akadia Something To Talk About call name is Gabby. We have waited for almost 2 years to find this special girl, and we want to thank Shannalee for being so patient with us, and finding us the right girl.

We are already the proud owner of a Bell son Akadia Wildfire, RA "Cody" so Gabby is a welcome addition to our sheltie family. Gabby will be enrolled with me in a handling class taught be a professional handler that only lives 10-15 minutes from me, so I'm excited to learn along with Gabby on how to handle her in the confirmation ring, I have dabbled a little on the confirmation side but have mainly been in the Obedience and Rally rings.

This picture was taken of us on our balcony, the person that took the photo lives on the inlet to Port Everglades his name is Wiley and he runs inletcam.com which is a site to watch the cruise ships sail. The person on the left of the picture is my sister Marion from England, then it's me with Ron standing behind me, the blonde haired lady is Mayo from Florida we got to know her and her husband prior to going on the cruise. The gentleman to her right is my brother-in-law John from England and to his right is Conrad who is married to Mayo.

This picture was taken as we sailed out of Fort Lauderdale, Wiley zoomed right in on our cabin. On the Sunday prior to our cruise we got a chance to visit with Wiley in his beautiful home on the inlet, I took some amazing photos from his backyard.

We Are Back!

We arrived home last night at 10:00 pm MST after spending 2 weeks on vacation 3 nights pre-cruise in Fort Lauderdale followed by a 10 night Southern Caribbean cruise, we had an awesome time weather was in the 80's. We renewed our wedding vows onboard ship and my darling hubby surprised me with a new diamond ring which is just beautiful has 7 diamonds set in white gold. He and my sister went and picked it out onboard ship the day of our renewel and they both told me they had to use the bathroom both left within 10 minutes of each other and I fell for it.

Now I have to do laundry and unpack, but next weekend we are heading to Shannalee at Akadia Shelties in Rigby, Idaho to pick up our new puppy her name is Gabby registered name is Akadia Something To Talk About and we are very excited to get her. Shannalee has a picture of her on her website under the sections litters she is under the Bell/Brock litter.

My bags are packed I'm ready to go!!!

My bags are all packed, I'm ready to go!!! Dogs head to Marie Miles of Hill View Shelties on Friday she is taking care of them while we are gone. We fly out Saturday morning at 9:50 am to Atlanta where I will meet my sister who I have not seen in 19 years at the Atlanta airport she is flying in from London with her husband.

We are spending 3 nights pre-cruise in Fort Lauderdale before we board the beautiful Emerald Princess pictured above for a 10 night Southern Caribbean Cruise. My husband and I will be renewing our wedding vows onboard ship. The ports of call our Princess Cays (Bahamas), St. Thomas, Dominicia, Grenada, Bonaire and Aruba.

When we get home from the cruise hopefully on the following weekend we will be heading to Idaho to pick up our new show puppy.

Awards Banquet

Last night we went to our annual awards banquet for the training center Willow Creek Dog Training Center in Sandy, Utah and received some awards. The top award is for ASCA-OTCH Hill View's Ain't Misbehavin', UD, RAE, ASCA-UD, U-CDX "Tyson" Obedience Trial Championship which he received back in 2006 but the training center did not honor him back then. But last night they did with this beautiful stain glass rossette.

Not to be out done Akadia Wildfire, RA "Cody" received these beautiful etched glass awards one for his RN and the other for his RA which he won last year. Below is a close up picture of the awards.

On Friday morning about 2:15 am Ron woke me up complaining about having stomach pains, that were really bad so at 2:30 am off we go to the emergency room. Turns out he has appendicitis so later that day he had surgery. Because his oxygen level was so lower he had to stay overnight in the hospital got him home yesterday.

Sure glad this happen now instead of in 3 weeks when we head out on vacation.

I was going through some photos and came across this photo of "Cody" Akadia Wildfire, RA in the breed ring. This photo was taken at the Utah Shetland Sheepdog Specialty in South Jordan, Utah. This had to of been in 2006 Cody was in 9 - 12 month puppy class. This was the only time Cody was ever in the breed ring. Shannalee of Akadia Shelties wanted to see him one time in the breed ring we were happy to show him. Notice the beautiful grooming on him this was done by Shannalee, she had him looking so good.

We have also been tagged. This is photo is from the 5th folder 5th photo. This is Tyson and myself at the shows in Boise, Idaho October 2007. Tyson finished his RAE title at these shows and was retired. Tyson registered name is ASCA-OTCH Hill View's Ain't Misbehavin', UD, RAE, U-CDX, ASCA-UD, CGC. Tyson now spends his day as a couch potato loves his back scratched and he is enjoying retirement. He has been the most amazing showdog for me and I have loved every minute that we showed together, he took me on an amazing journey and we had so many wonderful experiences together from showing at the 2004 ASSA Nationals to taking a High in Trial and High Combined in May of 2003, and finishing his ASCA-OTCH in July 2006. Tyson was ranked the #4 sheltie in the country for his Rally Obedience work Advanced level for the year 2007. So I have tagged the following.

I'm so excited for March to get here, first I get to go on a vacation with my hubby and my sister Marion and her husband John. I have not seen my sister in 19 years and I'm so excited to see her. We had original planned to go in February of 2010 and do a cruise but when the economy went down the drain we moved up the cruise. This cruise is to celebrate my 50th birthday which is in August and our 30th wedding anniversary which is in September and we are renewing our wedding vows on the ship. We are doing 3 night in Fort Lauderdale followed by a 10 night Southern Caribbean cruise. When we get back from the cruise I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will be getting a new puppy, one that I can show in the breed ring.

Scent work is the hardest thing to train a dog to do, and it is performed in the top level of obedience. Cody is still learning. They have to retrieve both leather and metal articles with your scent on, which is placed out in the pile.

Every year we head to one of Ron's sisters for breakfast normally we head to his sister Kaye's home, but this year we head to his sister Janet's home in Layton, Utah and we will go down to Kaye's for Christmas night dinner.
This is our niece Tammi and hubby Shawn and son Grady they flew in from there home in Hawaii on Tuesday.

Cody's visit with Santa

I was on my way home from taking Cody to training in Salt Lake City and decided to stop off at the mall in Layton to do last minute shopping, when I noticed two dogs being taken into the mall I stopped the people and asked if the mall was doing Santa pictures with dogs and they said yes. So back out to the van to get Cody I was very proud of Cody as to how well he handled being in the mall with all the people, everyone was saying look it's a little lassie I just smiled.

Dogs get a vacation at Hill View Shelties

When we go on our cruise in March the dogs were going to be boarded at the vets all except Tyson who was going to Marie Miles of Hill View Shelties in Ogden, Utah. Marie is the breeder of Tyson, well Marie called me about a month ago and said that she mentioned to her husband Gail that she was taking Tyson and the other two were going to the vets he said why doesn't she let us take them. So the all the dogs get to go play at Marie's house and run in a 2 acres pasture approx. all fenced in. Marie has 4 shelties at her home all girls so they will have fun, I know Cody will. I feel really good about Marie taking my dogs and I would rather pay her then the vets office because I know my dogs will have a great time.

Hopefully when we get back from our cruise we will be adding a new sheltie to our household one that I can show in the breed ring.

Let it Snow and O, Christmas Tree

For years we have put up a 7ft christmas tree, but last year Ron suggested we get a smaller tree so here is my 4-1/2ft christmas tree it sits on a end table dogs can't reach it and I'm one happy camper.

Visit with Santa

Had to share this photo of Tyson with Santa it's one of my favorites and Tyson looks like he has a big smile on his face. This photo was taken about 3 - 4 years ago and Santa was a friend of mine who is a breed ASCA judge named George Warner all the dogs loved him, and had great fun having there photos taken.

Under the weather

The tuesday before Thanksgiving I woke up to what I thought was a nasty head cold, but it didn't go away even with taking meds. So this past tuesday I was still sick so I took myself to the doctors and found out I have bronchitis and it sucks doctor signed me off work for the rest of the week and I go back on Monday. I hate being sick.

The Coolest experience

Our last port of call on our cruise last year was to the Bahamas, we decided to spend our money and go to Blue Lagoon Island and do a Dolphin encounter which was the coolest thing I have ever done. They are such amazing animals. I tell anyone that I hear is going on vacation and they are talking about maybe doing a dolphin encounter I tell them you will not be sorry to spend the money. I would do it again in a heartbeat. This totally rocked something I will always remember.

As I mentioned my passions are my shelties and cruising, well last year on our cruise, we got to experience the most amazing things. First we stopped at the island of Antigua and we got to go swimming with the stingray what an experience one I will not forget we took a boat ride out to a sandbank where the stingray were and we got to go snorkeling with them and yes that is me holding a stingray.

I have never blogged before so here goes. I have two passions in life, my wonderful shelties and cruising. So here I am from last years cruise waiting for muster drill or lifeboat drill.

The picture for my blog is of our very first three shelties Misty on the right her son Robbie standing (both of these dogs are no longer with us) and Tyson on the left.

Our show season this year was very quiet we only did two shows both were in Farmington, Utah one was an Obedience Trial in March 2008 and the other was another Obedience Trial in September 2008. We decided to save our money as we are heading out on another cruise in March 2009 and my sister and brother-in-law are joining us from England. The dogs are going to kennels while we are gone and hopefully we hit some more shows in the early summer.

Thanksgiving around here was quiet we headed to Ron's sister Janet's house for dinner there was about 10 of us there it was very nice even with me being sick with a nasty head cold. Ron headed out fishing with the neighbor on Friday to Flaming Gorge should be back sometime tonight. So it's just been me and the three shelties.
